Experience the unique combination of Cuisine from Nepal, India and Tibet
|
|
Odd to think that to enjoy Tibetan-Nepali-Indian cuisine in a cafe named for the popular
trekking mountain range, you actually must descend into this subterranean cavern. Austerely decorated, walls painted the color of a green butter mint, Annapurna’s
greatest appeal lies in helpful service and the delights of the vegetarian-friendly menu, of which there are many. Spinach or chicken filled momos (Tibetan dumplings) and
eggplant bharta with naan are good starters, as is Gautama Buddha salad – lettuce, veggies, and grilled tofu topped with raita. A variety of curries are served with
basmati rice and choice of chicken, lamb, shrimp, veggies, or tofu: try the coconutty Goa, with onions, garlic and cilantro, or the spicy Vandaloo. Carb-conscious diners
will be happy to find brown rice on the menu. Situated at the south end of the Broadway business strip, Annapurna is near enough to Seattle Central Community College to be
a student draw, especially for the bargain lunch menu. -- Ginny Morey (Photo: Ginny Morey)
